When you hear about ATMs, the normal thing is that you think that they are the place from which you can withdraw certain amounts of money from your bank account, without having to enter the office or wait for them to attend you. However, do you know that these machines can also be used for other things? For example, you can learn how to deposit money at an ATM.
If you have never considered it before, then we are going to talk to you about how to deposit money in an ATM, its limits, conditions and, above all, how you can do it in the main Spanish banks.
What you should take into account when depositing money at an ATM
When you go to an ATM, the usual thing is that you do it to withdraw money, but there are many more operations that you can perform, such as the fact of depositing money. This operation, which involves waiting until you are attended to at the bank's office, can actually be done through an ATM. Now, it is important that you take into account the following:
- We recommend using an ATM at a bank that will not charge you commissions. That is, try to always make it the bank teller where you want to receive the money, whether for your account, the account of a relative or even to pay someone else (by entering it into their account).
- The income is not reflected "automatically" if you do it with an envelope. Usually they leave it "pending" because they have to do it manually. That is, with the ATM you can carry out the procedure, but if you do it with an envelope, it will not be reflected in the account automatically. If the bills are loose, without rubber bands, clips or anything, then it will be immediate.
- The accepted banknotes are only those of 10,20,50, 100, XNUMX and XNUMX euros. Beyond those they do not allow it, much less coins.
- There is an income limit. Each bank determines its own, but in general you will always have a limit of money to enter. Beyond this, you will have to enter the office to be able to enter more money. For example, in the case of BBVA, they allow a maximum of 3 operations with 100 banknotes each, regardless of the value of each banknote. Which implies that you can enter up to 30000 euros through the ATM.
How to deposit money at an ATM
Next, and knowing that there are different banks, and with them different procedures, we are going to tell you what are the steps to deposit money in the main ATMs of entities such as La Caixa, Santander, BBVA ...
Money at a La Caixa ATM
The steps given to us at La Caixa are the following (with a bank card):
- Click on the button «Income». This starts the operation.
- Select the type of deposit to be made.
- Define which account will be where the deposit will be made, that is, if it will be to a La Caixa account of yours, that of a friend or relative, or to another bank.
- Mark the amount to be paid and the concept.
- Insert the banknotes, as they tell you in the image that appears on the screen. These should be loose.
- The number you have entered will appear on the screen and, if it is correct, you must confirm. Once done, you can withdraw the card.
Login to Santander
In Banco Santander there are different options to deposit money.
With the debit card
In this case, what you will have to do is put the card in the ATM slot and type the PIN so that it recognizes you. Next, on the screen you must look for the option "deposit money". This will take you to another screen where you will have to mark when you want to enter.
A slot will open in which you must place the bills. It is important that these do not go in envelopes and not with clips. This way the machine will be able to count them and it will be reflected on the screen. You give Ok and you can get a receipt for what you have done.
No debit card
If you do not have the card at hand, or do not want to do so, you can use your mobile in exchange. Of course, it is necessary that you download an application: Apple Pay (on iOS) or Samsung Pay (on Android). Then the steps are as follows:
- Open the application and click on debit card. You will have to bring it closer to the contactless reader.
- Enter the PIN and hit «deposit money».
- Mark the amount you are going to deposit and insert the bills through the slot that opens.
- In a matter of second the amount will be displayed. You give OK and that's it.
Login to another account
In the event that you want to enter another bank account, when clicking on deposit money, you must specify the account number to which you want to make the deposit.
Login to BBVA
If you want to know how to deposit money in a BBVA ATM, you should know that you can do it whether you are a customer or not. But in both cases there will be limitations.
If you are a customer, all you will need is your credit card, access codes or the BBVA App. If you are not a customer, you will only be able to enter a BBVA account but with a limitation of 1000 euros.
The steps to enter are as follows:
- Put the card in the ATM (or if you do not have it, click on "Access without card / book".
- Enter the card PIN.
- Select "Make another operation" and, there, to "Deposit money".
- Now it will allow you to choose if the income is to one of your accounts or to another one that you are not the owner of.
- You must enter the amount of money that you are going to put in as well as the concept and beneficiary.
- Next, and following the instructions, you must enter the money through the slot. it will start flashing so you know where it is.
- The machine will count the money and the count will appear. In this step you can choose to enter more or continue.
- If you continue, you will be able to: recover part of the money or enter it all into your account.
- After a summary so you can confirm, everything will be done and you can get a receipt for it.
