How to dedomiciliate receipts

How to dedomiciliate receipts

Many times, something we do to get rid of problems when making recurring payments is direct debit receipts. But what if you don't want to keep paying for it like that? No problem, because that action can be undone, but how do I undomicile receipts? Can be done?

If you're thinking about cancel any service that you have domiciled but you do not know what you should do to do it, then we will talk about it.

What is direct debit

What is direct debit

Before talking to you about direct debiting and how to do it, you have to know what we are referring to by direct debit. This is the term by which it is known, although there is also another, Debit SEPA, which is the name in "banking jargon".

The direct debit is an authorization that you grant, as an account holder, to the bank. For what? Well, so that it is this one who, without having to receive orders from us every time a receipt is passed from that company, is paid automatically. In other words, it is a permission that we give the bank to pay a certain company every time a receipt is received, without having to ask us.

The normal thing is that what we domicile is electricity, water, community of neighbors, insurance, streaming platforms... receipts that we know come monthly and that, instead of taking care of paying each month, we let the bank do it make.

Direct debit types

Direct debit types

Among the types of direct debits that you can carry out are the following:

  • Of taxes. In other words, instead of having to pay taxes every three months, the Tax Agency gives the option of direct debiting the receipts so that they are automatically paid. Of course, only in those whose amount is fixed; if you are one of those who depend on the quarter, this option would not be possible.
  • SEPA direct debit. This has to do with payment between countries that benefit from this way of paying without being aware of it. Within these we have two types:
    • Basic direct.
    • Direct B2B, that is, from business to business.

Advantages and disadvantages

If you have ever paid a bill by direct debit, you surely know that it has many benefits, the first of which is that you will never forget to pay it because the bank is already in charge of paying it on your behalf, so you can not worry about that, as long as there is money in the account, they will not claim anything from you.

But in addition to that advantage, there are some more. And like all good things it also has its bad side, there will also be disadvantages.

Among the latests Moravia's compositions and advantages that we can mention, beyond the previous one, are:

  • Avoid late payment. And with it not having to pay surcharges that can drown people for having forgotten about it.
  • Greater security for the company that charges. Because by doingmicile the company knows that, when you send a receipt, it will not be returned unpaid, but rather it will automatically be paid. That also gives you more credibility.
  • Advantages in your bank. Banks often have some prizes for customers who direct payments. In this way, you can benefit from a gift or discount on your account, which never hurts.
  • You can cancel whenever you want. The fact that you domicile something does not mean that it is going to stay for the rest of your life; whenever you want you can send the order to your bank so that it does not pay more receipts.

Now, as we said, everything good also has bad things, and in this case these must be taken into account. Among them, we can mention:

  • Lose sight of your expenses. In fact, direct debits mean that many do not take this expense into account, and therefore you can end up in debt. And it is that if you do not have that expense and you put another one, you can make that in the end what you enter and what you spend are the same, or worse still, that you spend more than what you enter.
  • You can leave your accounts to zero, especially if you do not control your expenses well.
  • If an improper charge is made, the claim can be resolved in a longer period than if you had not made a direct debit. Keep in mind that they have charged, and to return they may take time to agree with you (and thus recover your money).
  • You could be paying more. In fact, that you domicile does not mean that you disengage. You have to know what you pay and why, to avoid being overcharged or unduly charged.

How to dedomiciliate receipts

How to dedomiciliate receipts

Now that you have a clearer understanding of everything that direct debit is, it is time to get fully into the subject of the article, the de-domiciliation of receipts. Can be done?

The answer is simple. Yes. But to dedomiciliate receipts you will depend on your bank, and we are sorry to tell you that, depending on what it is, it has one process or another. Of course, they are not difficult, on the contrary, but we cannot take the specific steps because each bank does it in a different way.

What we can tell you is that You have two ways to dedomiciliate receipts, which are applied in almost all banks:

  • In person. That is, asking for an appointment or going to the bank and asking for a receipt to be dedomiciled. Normally they will make you fill out a form, or they will do it on the computer, print it out and you will read it to see if you agree. If so, you'll need to sign it and they'll keep a copy (and they should give you one.
  • On-line. This route is even easier and faster, because you can do it both on your mobile and on your computer, wherever you are. You just have to enter your bank's app and search for direct debits. Others simply give you the option to cancel the direct debits on the receipt of that direct debit payment.

What happens after moving out

Once you have given an order to the bank that that receipt should not be paid anymore, because you have removed it, when the company that should collect tries to do so, that payment will be rejected.

In this case, the normal thing is that that company contacts you informing you of what has happened so that you pay that receipt (if you have not unsubscribed from them). Otherwise, you may have problems.

For this reason, once you leave your home, the best thing to do is notify the company, either by telling him that we no longer want his services, or by advising that you are going to pay in another way.

Is it now clearer to you how to de-domicile receipts?
