Electrics enter the electric car sector

A novelty that companies listed on the national equity markets are showing is that they have entered the emerging market for electric cars. A factor that can give them added value in the valuation of their prices, although more in the medium and long term and more than in the short term. Some of these companies that have decided to make the leap towards greener cars are Endesa and Iberdrola, although they have not yet included this strategy in their business lines. In any case, it will be a factor to consider in the coming years.

Electric cars are imposing their models on Spanish streets little by little and without much fanfare. To the point that it is already more or less usual meet a vehicle of these special characteristics in the main cities of our country. In this sense, we must remember that electric cars are already a reality that must be counted on for our trips in the city. In addition to providing a very efficient help to fight against pollution on the planet by not being such aggressive vehicles.

At this time, the registrations of vehicles electric vehicles (cars, quadricycles, commercial and industrial vehicles and buses) in Spain have reached a volume of more than 1.000 units in July, according to the data provided by the Spanish Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers. In which it is evident that there has been an increase in this private means of transport of just over 50% compared to the same period last year. Between January and July of this year, the Spanish market for hybrid vehicles stood at 45.395 units,

Compromised power companies

One of the latest companies to join this driving system is Endesa, which has decided to bet very strongly on electric cars as a formula to increase its line of business within the sector. Throughout Spain, 274 Endesa employees have joined the Mobility Plan, which represents about seven percent of the sales of the entire national market for electric passenger cars. On the other hand, the fleet in this type of very special vehicles is expected to show greater growth as of next year. A factor that would affect the profits of the company.

However, if what you want is to make the most of this process that electricity companies are going through, it will be a bit early for it to become a reality. Not surprisingly, the incidence of these so-called ecological cars is very small on the business accounts of the listed ones. You will have no choice but to wait, at least a few more years, for their prices to reflect this scenario that is beginning to set in. If you have a good dose of patience from now on, you may have your reward in five, six or seven years if you opt for these values to make up your next investment portfolio.

Electric cars are more expensive

price

Endesa admits that "acquiring an electric car is more expensive than buying a combustion car, and especially if they are equipped with a lithium battery manufactured by hand". But at the same time they recognize that an electric vehicle generates significant savings in the medium and long term, since in addition to fuel savings, maintenance costs it is much less. This is due to no oils or lubricants, brake wear is low and finally there are no mechanical transmissions. With which, the effect on the drivers pocket is immediate.

In this sense, energy savings can imply an average of 1,5 euros per 100 kilometers recharging at night and for an average consumption of 15 kWh per 100 kilometers as a reference measure. On the other hand, it cannot be forgotten that there is a containment in costs as a result of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. While the drivers of this class of vehicles currently have different formats of public aid and subsidies that are included in the plans to promote sustainable mobility.

200 charging points are installed

The other large electricity company, Iberdrola, is also going through this same business process. Where the business group has decided to bet on the sustainable mobility through the vehicle of these characteristics. One of the greatest contributions of this driving model is that it allows the reduction of economic and regulatory barriers. In a statement he points out that "a regulation based on the principle of" the polluter pays "and facilitating the installation of recharging points is necessary".

To meet these objectives, it has managed to install a network throughout Spain of 200 charging points for electric cars, known as electric chargers. These connectors are distributed in the highways and the main corridors of the country in a process with different phases in its execution and that in principle will end in the last months of 2019. One of the most relevant points of this innovative charging system is that it will be divided in three ways regarding its use: fast, superfast and ultrafast. With an estimate of time in them that will oscillate between 20 and 30 minutes.

How to load?

Car

Another aspect that drivers in this class of vehicles should take into account from now on will be the operation of recharging on the electrical network. Well, users will be able to recharge in these electrical distribution centers, but also to carry out geolocation, reserve and pay with their mobile phones. According to sources from companies in the electricity sector, the average load will be between four and five euros every 100 kilometers. Although other sources estimate that they may drop in the coming years as a result of its greater acceptance among Spanish drivers.

On the other hand, it should not be forgotten that the estimates of these companies is that in the future there will be at least one point every 100 kilometers. If so, it will mean in practice duplicate current network, although it remains to be seen whether this scenario will be fulfilled in the coming years. Because its implantation in our country is still uncertain, contrary to what is happening in some of the European countries, especially those located in the north of the old continent.

Faced with the rise in the price of oil

There are several differences with respect to cars with a combustion engine. A special one is the one that has to do with the increase in the price of black gold. At this time, he has reached the bar of the $ 80 a barrel. With expectations that it can continue to rise, at least in the short and medium term. In this sense, the predictions of the International Energy Agency (IEA) have been fulfilled with sufficiency when they foresee that in 2020 prices would rise to 80 dollars a barrel of crude.

The average price of gasoline in Spain is very close to the 1,30 euros per liter. With this scenario, it is not surprising that it will be much more profitable to buy an electric car in some places more than in others. Where, some sectorial reports clarify that the savings through electric cars can reach almost 9,5 euros per 100 kilometers. As a result of these calculations, for an average consumption of 13 kW per hour in a journey of 100 kilometers, it would imply an estimated cost very close to 2 euros, compared to a minimum of 6 euros provided by these cars of such a special range.

Discounts on purchases

Park

Another advantage that electric cars provide is their lower cost compared to combustion vehicles. This fact is derived because a good part of the Spanish municipalities contemplate a series of incentives or bonuses for its acquisition. In some of the cases with up to 75% on your taxes. While on the other hand, there are also other additional advantages, such as the total exemption from registration. With regard to VAT, it is completely the same as that of the most conventional vehicles. It will, therefore, be a decision that you must make based on some of these variables.

Another aspect to be assessed is that derived from the car parks that are appearing for this class of cars. To the point that they have progressively expanded to urban centers, supermarkets and even tourist areas. And what is more important, in the expansion phase for the next few years.

Finally, it should be noted that there are more conventional recharging points on the main roads so that drivers can formalize this process more comfortably. Although this segment is still in the expansion phase, at least as far as our country is concerned. Also other recharging centers that are free for all users and that have revitalized this sector. And what is more important, in the expansion phase for the next few years.
